Egyptian Architecture

Egyptian Architecture

The ancient Egyptians built their pyramids, tombs, palaces and any other structure out of time, which is one of the most durable naturally occurring materials out there. Stone is also easy to come by and often comes in large quantities. Egyptian building projects took a ridiculous amount of time, skill and they required a large workforce of labourers and craftsmen.

Apart from the pyramids, Egyptian structures were covered in stylistic paintings. pictures carved into stone, hieroglyphics and massive statues. All these pieces of art each tell a different story of the pharaohs, gods, other people, and the world of animals, plants and birds.

Most of the structures built by the Egyptians were incredibly durable and they lasted thousands and thousands of years. They used to build tombs to bury their dead leaders, known as pharaohs. Tomb building started as soon as a new pharaoh was named and the building continued throughout his life until his death. Why the pharaohs used chose pyramids to be buried in is still a mystery
